Solicitor or Barrister?

A common question asked by clients is the difference between a solicitor and barrister.  Historically, barristers represent clients at Court or in Tribunal and could be recognized by their wig and gown.

However, solicitors also represent clients in the Magistrates (Criminal) Court and County (Civil) Court. 

Some solicitors become Higher Court Advocates and conduct jury trials in the Crown Court, the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords.

The nature and complexity of your case and the estimated length of any hearing or trial will generally be factors in deciding whether one of our solicitors will represent you, or whether we will instruct a barrister.
